Product Description
Here’s one that’s always popular with collectors. This Italian/German Africa campaign medal is an early bronze version that is in nice condition but is missing it’s ribbon. The obverse shows two gladiators (Germany and Italy) in armor , battling a crocodile (Britain). The Reverse has the inscription “Campagna Italo-Tedesca in Africa”, and, “Italienisch-Deutscher Feldzug in Afrika” surrounding a depiction of the Arco dei Fileni. The medal is nicely maker marked “De Marchis” and “Lorioli Milano”. Understandably the medals were not to be worn by German soldiers after Italy surrendered to the Allies. A great medal with loads of history.
