Product Description
Next we have a German Russian front medal that is in decent condition. The ring is marked “88” for the maker Werner Redo, Saarlautern. The obverse depicts a German helmet resting on a stick grenade and a bold eagle clutching a static swastika. The reverse of the medal reads “Winterschlacht Im Osten 1941/42″ (Winter Battle in the East 1941/42). Russian front medals are also known as “frozen Meat” medals and were awarded to individuals that had participated in combat on the Russian front. A great medal that shows its age but will still look good in your collection.
